Web Services in the Generation CP

The Generation Challenge Programme’s success relies on the availability and exchange of scientific data. Such data is available in different formats and medium, making its sharing a difficult task. The deployment of web services aims at providing a standard mechanism for publishing and accessing scientific data, enabling Consortium members to access all resources regardless of format and platform.

The main goal of this project is to unlock the great wealth of information the Generation Challenge Programme will generate. To allow sharing and analysis of such information an informatics network will have to be established in which scientific data could be exchanged regardless of location and source.

In order to meet this challenge web service technology has been chosen as the core foundation of this network. This technology allows distributed access of data and should provide a standard structured data access to the Generation CP information.

The main outcome of this project will be to enable Generation CP data providers to publish and maintain their data using web services and to ensure the availability and exchange of Generation CP related datasets.

Please provide feedback on the design, suggested features or problems and errors you might discover to Milko A. Skofic at Bioversity International.
