Schemas

Several schemas are available to be used in BioCASE and TAPIR installations, some schemas are specific to the GCP and others are used by a wider community and are cited for completeness.

GCP

A schema for the passport descriptors is available, it is used to map germplasm passport descriptors to data provider databases. The latest version is V1.05 and it is the recommended one.

GBIF

BioCASE providers that contribute to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility use two main schemas to share information: Darwin Core and ABCD. These schemas are provided by default by both BioCASE and TAPIR.

Other

EURISCO represents a wealthy source for germplasm passport information, it uses a modified version of the MultiCrop Passport Descriptors. This schema can be used as a general schema for sharing passport data.

ALIS is a flexible schema that represents passport information for an accession. Ancillary data is represented as codes in attributes and values in the tag values, this allows the schema to be used both for data harvesting and presentation.

Note that some of the schemas in the documentation lack enumerations, in particular the language and country codes have been stripped from the documentation for size reasons.

Please provide feedback on the design, suggested features or problems and errors you might discover to Milko A. Skofic at Bioversity International.
